Description

Food insecurity rates, which skyrocketed with the Great Recession, have yet to fall to pre-recession levels. Food pantries are stretched thin, and states are imposing new restrictions on programs like SNAP that are preventing people from getting crucial government assistance. At the same time, we see an increase in obesity that results from lack of access to healthy foods. The poor face a daily choice between paying bills and paying for food.

I have found that this book holds my interest, while it gets down to the roots of how the Food System got so deplorable. It has been a long time since I have been able to call what is offered as food: "food". We are being sold "Frankenfood," and have been for quite a long time.I have not finished reading this book, but I doubt the authors use the term "Frankenfood," it is not that kind of book. It is very thought provoking and informative in its analysis. You can can follow what you learn to its logical conclusion. Take action, though, what ever you do.
